  • Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library 475 Moe Rd NY, 12065 United States (map)

Local award-winning author, Janine De Tillio Cammarata released her fifth book on September 21, 2018. The Puzzle Quests: Saving Atlantis is the second in this series for kids from ages 8-12. It follows one year after the release of the first book, Shimmer’s Eggs. Cammarata’s Book Release Beach Party will be held on Sunday, December 2, from 1-3:30pm at the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library. Cammarata will share her inspiration for this story and collaborate with participating children to write their own mini-story based on Rose’s adventures. Children are encouraged to bring their favorite beach towel. A book signing will follow with refreshments courtesy of The Friends of the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library.

Rose and her growing band of knights get the chance to save Atlantis during their next puzzle quest. When Rose attempts to save this world on her own, her team is thrown into danger and the safety of Atlantis and her friendships are compromised. Will Rose see the value of working as a team before she is trapped in Dragonia forever?

Cammarata brings her passion for writing and her mission for helping children battle cancer together in this series that softens the harshness of reality by weaving fantasy with real life situations. This book is a fictionalized fantasy about her boys at ages ten and twelve. She vaguely touches on her son’s illness, but focuses on encouraging deep friendships, strong values, and hope for children struggling through life’s hardships.

A graduate of The College of Saint Rose, Albany, NY, Cammarata teaches journaling and creative writing workshops for children, teens, and adults. She is co-founder and president of Nick’s Fight to be Healed Foundation, a 501 (c) 3 organization that has emotionally and financially supported hundreds of local children battling cancer. It was started in 2009 in memory of her oldest son, Nick, who passed away from leukemia in 2008.
