Crafting Characters for Mystery/Detective Fiction

  • Albany Public Library Howe Branch 105 Schuyler Street Albany, NY, 12202 United States (map)

Local criminal justice professor and mystery writer Frankie Y. Bailey will lead this hands-on program for patrons of all experience levels. This afternoon workshop is an opportunity to focus on the characters who propel you story or novel. Although plot and setting are important elements of genre fiction, readers love stories and books about characters with whom they feel an emotional connection. Workshop participants will have time to practice various techniques for crafting characters. Bring your work in progress or start from scratch. Bring pen and paper or your laptop.
